We offer both dentures for restoration and mouthguards for protection
What are dentures?
Dentures consist of a plastic base that is moulded to look like your gums which has artificial teeth attached. The colour of both the false gum tissue and teeth are coloured matched to be as natural as possible.
There are different options available depending on how many teeth are missing. We offer partial dentures and full dentures.
Full dentures
Full dentures restore all the teeth and attach to the gums through suctioning to the roof the mouth, which is known as the palate. Upper dentures are easy to get used to, however for lower dentures they can take longer as they are not as secure. This is because the lower denture has a smaller area to suction on to.
Partial dentures
Partial dentures restore only the teeth that are missing and are secured inside your mouth by clipping onto your existing teeth. There is a variety of different types of partial dentures, and the most suitable depends on which teeth are missing. Partial dentures can either be made from metal, acrylic or flexible plastic.
What is the procedure to getting dentures?
The procedure to getting dentures is relatively simple, however it does require multiple appointments. If you are suitable for dentures, our team will take impressions of your gums and remaining teeth.
Using this impression, we will make a model of your mouth which will be used to fabricate your full or partial dentures.
Once your dentures are made, you will be called back into Oracare where we will ensure your dentures fit comfortably and securely. If the dentures fit well, you will quickly be on your way home.
Caring for your dentures
Taking good care of your dentures is incredibly important. It’s recommended that you remove them at night-time and place your dentures in a denture solution or water to keep them moist and prevent them from drying out.
Dentures must also be cleaned daily using a special denture toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush or denture brush.

Custom sports mouthguards in Brisbane
Sports mouthguards are an essential piece of safety equipment which should be worn while playing most contact sports.
Despite sportsguards being available, many athletes and other people lose or injure teeth all the time while participating in sports due to not wearing a mouthguard.
What is a sports mouthguard?
Sports mouthguards include a piece of moulded plastic that is customised to your smile to fit over your upper arch of teeth. Mouthguards protect the mouth and face in many ways, such as:
- Shielding damage to the upper teeth
- Reducing dental impacts of facial impacts and blows
- Prevention of top and lower teeth from impacting into one another
- Prevents soft tissue injuries due to impacts from the teeth
Types of sports mouthguards available
Ready-made sportsguard
Also known as over-the-counter mouthguard as they are available in pharmacies and other stores. Since these mouthguards are not custom made, they do not offer the same comfort and protection as custom mouthguards.
Boil & bite sportsguard
This type of mouthguard is also available over-the-counter from pharmacies and other stores, however it’s not straight out of the package. These mouthguards must be placed in boiling water to make it soft and pliable. Once it cools down a bit, you place it over the teeth and bite down. This aims to create a better fit, however it is still nowhere near as protective as a custom mouthguard.
Custom Sportsguard
These mouthguards are custom made off impressions of your smile by a dentist at Oracare. The process begins with taking an impression and building a model of your smile. This allows for the perfect mouthguard to be created that will fit your smile perfectly.
Custom mouthguards are made from durable plastic that’s comfortable and allows for breathing and speaking normally.
